Network & Connectivity

Network infrastructure, bandwidth options, DDoS protection, and IP allocation at HUC Bangalore datacenter.

Network & Connectivity

HUC operates a carrier-neutral network infrastructure in our Bangalore datacenter. Our network is designed for low latency, high throughput, and resilience, with multiple upstream providers, redundant core routing, and advanced DDoS mitigation.

Network Infrastructure Overview

Core Architecture

  • Redundant core routers: Dual Juniper MX-series routers in active-active configuration
  • Aggregation layer: Juniper EX-series switches with redundant uplinks
  • Top-of-rack: 10 Gbps / 25 Gbps access switches with 100 Gbps uplinks
  • Interconnects: Multiple 100 Gbps upstream connections
  • Design: Fully redundant leaf-spine topology with no single point of failure

Route Optimization

  • BGP-based multi-homing across all upstream providers
  • Automatic failover to alternate paths on link failure
  • Latency-optimized routing to major Indian and international destinations
  • Anycast DNS for improved global resolution performance

Bandwidth Options

Metered Bandwidth

Pay for a fixed monthly transfer quota on a port of your chosen speed.

Port SpeedIncluded TransferOverage Rate
100 Mbps5 TB/monthContact sales
1 Gbps10 TB/monthContact sales
10 Gbps50 TB/monthContact sales

Unmetered Bandwidth

Flat-rate pricing for a committed port speed with no transfer caps.

Committed SpeedBurst
100 MbpsUp to 200 Mbps
250 MbpsUp to 500 Mbps
500 MbpsUp to 1 Gbps
1 GbpsUp to 2 Gbps

Dedicated Bandwidth

For high-volume or latency-sensitive applications, dedicated bandwidth provides a guaranteed minimum throughput.

  • Available in 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps, and 100 Gbps increments
  • Committed Information Rate (CIR) guaranteed
  • Custom SLA with latency and jitter commitments
  • Contact sales for pricing

All bandwidth is symmetric (equal upload and download speeds). Domestic (Indian) and international traffic are not metered separately.

DDoS Protection

Standard Protection (Included)

All HUC services include baseline DDoS protection at no additional cost:

  • Layer 3/4 mitigation: Up to 10 Gbps of volumetric attack mitigation
  • Always-on: Traffic is continuously monitored; mitigation activates automatically
  • Protocols: Protects against SYN floods, UDP floods, ICMP floods, and amplification attacks

Advanced Protection (Add-On)

For applications requiring stronger protection:

FeatureStandardAdvanced
L3/L4 mitigation capacity10 Gbps1+ Tbps (scrubbing center)
L7 mitigationNot includedApplication-layer filtering
Time to mitigate< 60 seconds< 10 seconds

Custom rulesNot availableCustom mitigation profiles
GRE tunnelingNot availableAvailable for off-ramp scrubbing

If your application is a frequent target of DDoS attacks (e.g., gaming, financial services, political content), we strongly recommend the Advanced DDoS Protection add-on.

IP Address Allocation

IPv4

AllocationIncluded WithAdditional Cost
1 IPv4 addressAll serversIncluded
/29 (5 usable)On requestMonthly fee per IP
/28 (13 usable)On requestMonthly fee per IP
/27 (29 usable)On requestMonthly fee per IP
/24 (253 usable)On requestCustom pricing

IPv4 allocations larger than /29 require technical justification per APNIC policy. Provide a brief description of how each IP will be used when submitting your request.

IPv6

  • /64 block included with every server at no additional cost
  • /48 block available on request for larger deployments
  • Fully dual-stack network — IPv4 and IPv6 operate in parallel

Peering Partners

HUC maintains direct peering and transit relationships with major domestic and international networks:

Domestic (India)

  • Tata Communications
  • Airtel (Bharti)
  • Reliance Jio
  • BSNL
  • Vodafone Idea
  • Sify Technologies
  • NIXI (National Internet Exchange of India) — Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore peering points

International

  • Cogent Communications
  • Hurricane Electric
  • Lumen Technologies
  • GTT Communications
  • RETN

Content Delivery & Cloud

  • Google (via peering)
  • Cloudflare (via peering)
  • Akamai (via peering)
  • Amazon CloudFront (via peering)
  • Microsoft Azure (via peering)

Latency Benchmarks

Typical round-trip latency from HUC Bangalore to major destinations:

DestinationLatency (RTT)
Mumbai5–8 ms
Chennai3–5 ms
Hyderabad4–6 ms
Delhi25–35 ms
Singapore30–40 ms
Hong Kong55–70 ms

Looking Glass & Network Tools

HUC provides a public looking glass for testing network connectivity and routing:

Looking Glass

Access our looking glass at lg.hostupcloud.com to run:

  • Ping — Test latency to HUC network from various locations
  • Traceroute — View the network path to HUC
  • BGP route — Check BGP routing table entries

Speed Test

Test your download and upload speed to HUC Bangalore:

# Test files (HTTP)

https://lg.hostupcloud.com/1GB.test

Network Status

Check real-time network status and any ongoing incidents at status.hostupcloud.com.

Private Networking

Private VLAN

Servers within the HUC facility can communicate over a private VLAN at no additional bandwidth cost:

  • Layer 2 isolation between your servers
  • Full line-rate communication (1 Gbps or 10 Gbps depending on server)
  • No bandwidth metering on private traffic
  • Available across all server types (dedicated, bare metal, colocation)

VPN Connectivity

Connect your office or remote infrastructure to your HUC servers via:

  • IPSec VPN — Site-to-site VPN between your network and HUC
  • WireGuard — Lightweight VPN for point-to-point connections
  • MPLS — Dedicated MPLS circuit for enterprise customers (via carrier partners)
